National Take-Back Initiative

Prescription and over-the-counter drugs have become a part of everyday life for most Americans. We have cabinets lined with medications, some of which we no longer need but don’t quite know what to do with. What if the medication is expired or no longer needed?

Don’t simply flush your medication down the sink or toilet unless the label specifically says to do so.

In order to keep our environment safe, reduce the risk of substance abuse or accidental ingestion by kids and pets, and make disposal as responsible and convenient as possible, the Drug Enforcement Administration has set September 27th as the day of the National Take-Back Initiative. There will be locations set up across the nation to allow people to give unwanted medications to be properly disposed of.

Below are a few stations near Winslow Animal Hospital where you can dispose of your unwanted medications on Saturday, September 27, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
