Cook for Your Pets Day
November first is National Cook for Your Pets Day!! This day was started to encourage people to think about pet nutrition and to bond with our Furry-Friends over a special treat.
Remember that pets’ nutritional needs are different than ours, and some foods that are totally fine for us are downright toxic for certain animals! Cats are often more picky about what they eat than dogs, and they need to have most of their nutrition from high protein sources, such as chicken or fish. Note: cats need far more protein than dogs or humans. Cooking for a cat should mostly be meats such as chicken, turkey, etc.
While it’s ok to make a special treat for your pet, be careful about the amount of a new food you give to your pet. Always introduce new foods gradually to be sure your pet’s digestive system will tolerate it. Talk to your veterinarian before making any major changes to your pet’s diet.
