Laser Therapy

Do you have a pet who is in a lot of pain from surgery, injury, or disease?  Winslow Animal Hospital brings the best of care with laser therapy to help with pain management and recovery. Laser therapy is a preferred form of treatment by many pet parents because it is pain-free, drug-free, and non-invasive.

What is laser therapy?

Laser therapy uses light to accelerate healing at the cellular level. It improves circulation and speeds up the recovery of pets after orthopedic, neurologic, and soft tissue surgeries. Laser therapy decreases the formation of scar tissue by stimulating the proper growth of collagen for a stronger repair. The laser also helps patients with neurological injuries by promoting spinal cord and nerve regeneration. It reduces inflammation and pain for pets suffering with arthritis, injury, or from the recovery process of surgery. Laser Therapy can also help improve mobility. It can be used in conjunction with pain medication, or eliminate the need for it.

Some of the conditions treated with laser therapy:

  • Recovery from surgery
  • Wounds
  • Bone fractures
  • Sprains
  • Strains
  • Neurological conditions
  • Some skin problems
  • Pain and mobility problems associated with aging/arthritis
  • Hip/elbow dysplasia
  • Degenerative joint disease

Laser therapy has no known side effects. It is a completely safe treatment.

What it is like for your pet:

For many pets, this is a very relaxing process. Any tension they might be carrying due to pain will begin to fade as they become more comfortable.

Of course, how long a session is and how many are necessary depend on the type of ailment being treated and how many areas it is being administered too. For many, however, improvement can be seen after the first session.
