Fruits and Veggies for Your Pet
Are you ever approached by your pet while you’re in the kitchen and wonder if you can share with your pet? Hopefully you are aware that there are foods that are dangerous for pets, such as chocolate and gums/candies that contain the artificial sweetener xylitol. But there are some fruits and vegetables that can be a great treat!
Be aware that any big changes in diet can cause upset stomach, so be cautious about giving a lot of different foods to your pet without giving him or her time to adjust.
Fruit
Be sure to wash and get rid of the seeds from fruit before you give it to pets. Here are some that are good to give:
Stay away from grapes and raisins, which may cause kidney damage. Citrus fruits may cause upset stomach.
Broccolli, cauliflower, etc. are easier to digest when cooked. Consider boiling or steaming them first. All these vegetables are good:
Avoid garlic and onions in all forms, as well as rhubarb, wild mushrooms and be aware that corn is a common allergen for pets.
