Give your pet dog or cat treats, or healthy, safe snacks. NEVER give your pet chocolate or candies that could contain xylitol, an artificial sweetener that is toxic to pets. Give animals their space. All the excitement might spook them – especially if you or guests are in costume! Your own pet may need a room away from all the excitement to relax. Be careful with decorations. Some decorations could present choking or swallowing hazards for pets. Anything with cords or open flames may be a fire hazard. Make sure any pet costumes are safe and comfortable. Pets should still be able to move freely, and they should not be prevented from seeing, hearing, eating, etc. Use ID tags, and if possible have your pet microchipped (make sure your registration is up to date!) We have seen microchips bring pets and families back together after even months apart.
