International Assistance Dog Week
International Assistance Dog Week (IADW) takes place the first full week of August. This year’s IADW is from August 2-8, 2015. It’s a time to recognize the hard work of Assistance Dogs and those who train them in preparing for a partnership with people living with disabilities.
The goals of International Assistance Dog Week are to:
- Recognize and honor assistance dogs
- Raise awareness and educate the public about assistance dogs
- Honor puppy raisers and trainers
- Recognize heroic deeds performed by assistance dogs in our communities
Some of the many Assistance Dogs are:
1. Seizure Assistance Dogs

3. Mobility Assistance Dogs
4. Medical Assistance Dogs
5. Mental Health Assistance Dogs
6. Hearing Dogs
7. Allergy Detection Dogs
8. Guide Dogs
These dogs are truly awesome. Happy International Assistance Dog Week!
