Merry Maker | Winslow Animal Hospital Dog & Cat

Merry

Say hi to the regal Merry Maker! At 11 years old, Merry is considered a senior pet. Senior pets’ needs are often different than their needs a few years before. Dogs and cats age faster than human beings, so it is important to track their health more frequently. We recommend wellness visits twice a year.

Many of our senior pets, like Merry, benefit from veterinary acupuncture, thanks to the efforts of the talented Amy Hinze, VMD, CVA. Acupuncture is the ancient technique of placing very small needles into special points on the body called acupoints. Studies have shown that stimulation of these points will induce the release of endorphins, cause changes in blood and lymph flow, as well as improve conduction of nerve impulses traveling to the Central Nervous System.

Acupuncture stimulation induces the following physiological effects:

  • Pain relief
  • Regulation of gastrointestinal motility
  • Anti-inflammatory effect
  • Immuno-regulation
  • Hormone and reproductive regulation
  • Anti-fever effect; microcirculation promotion
