Our hospital is able to perform most routine laboratory bloodwork on site, and in addition, uses the services of several other labs both in Canada and the U.S. as the need arises. Radiology services are on site, and we will refer your pet’s radiographs for specialist consultation if required. ECGs are transmitted directly to veterinary specialists for interpetation and the most up-to-date recommendations available. Ultrasound preliminary diagnostics is another available service. We enjoy liason with the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, University of Guelph, and other specialist resources as required. Our pharmacy can dispense prescribed medication for your pet. We endeavor to carry the most effective medicines currently available. A healthy pet is our main concern, and our staff is willing to intergrate various alternative therapies into your pet’s health care regime, whether on a trial basis or as a long term treatment. Clients can consult with us about acupuncture, chiropractic and massage therapies, nutricals, tellington touch and magnetics. Our veterinarians are skilled surgeons and enjoy all types of surgery from soft tissue to orthopedics.
Routine Pet Care
Regular checkups and vaccinations play an important role in the overall health of your pet. Once the initital puppy/kitten vaccination protocol has been completed, a yearly physical exam is highly recommended. Our veterinarians will work with you to develop a further vaccination program for your pet. Spays and neuters are an important step in reducing the population of unwanted pets. Altered pets are happier, healthier, and easier to live with. The surgery will require a day stay at our hospital, and the animals, treated with every concern for their comfort and safety, are released with complete post-operative instructions. Dentistry is another important part of overall routine healthy pet care. Periodental disease is the most common problem associated with excessive tarter buildup on the teeth. Our staff can direct pet owners in home dental care and provide all the necessary tools. We also provide professional cleaning and polishing, which is accomplished under general anethesia.
