Our hospital employs Registered Animal Health Technologists. A Registered Animal Health Technologist has received extensive education and training in an accredited college program, and is trained to assist veterinarians in caring for pets. These professionals perform many of the same tasks that a nurse would for a doctor. Responsibilities of our Registered Animal Health Technologists (RAHT’s) include:
- collect patient samples
- perform lab tests
- assist during patient exams and surgeries
- nursing care of our hospitalized patients
- apply IV catheters, bandages, administer injections and TLC
- anaesthesia and monitoring
- dental cleanings
- xrays
- education for clients
- Senior techs also train and mentor other staff members
