Dr. Chace, Dr. Kelley and our experienced team of veterinary technicians provide many services at our clinic, ranging from routine to advanced procedures. Although we handle the majority of your pet’s medical and surgical needs in-house, we occasionally refer patients to the region’s best board-certified veterinary specialists or specialty clinics, when advanced training or equipment is called for.
In -House Referrals: Dr. Erik Peterson, DVM, ACVIM -Internal Medicine provides Advanced Veterinary Care with internal medicine consultations and ultrasonography including echocardiograms, abdominal and thoracic imaging. He is available by drop off appointment only and is on-site almost every Thursday. Dr. Peterson will evaluate your pet’s history, examine your pet and provide the pre-arranged services. Although he does not meet with our clients directly, he does provide his findings and recommendations to Dr. Chace or Dr. Kelley, who in turn will share this information with you at your discharge appointment.
Outside Referrals: Central CT is fortunate to have many board certified specialists of different disciplines within a short drive from Farmington. These include but are not limited to surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, radiology, oncology, cardiology, physical therapy and neurology. Other veterinarians provide services such as acupuncture and homeopathy, but are not specialists.
Specialty clinics and university-affiliated referral centers have specialized equipment to perform procedures that are not routinely performed by general veterinary practitioners.
Dr. Chace and Dr. Kelley make referral decisions because they want to ensure that their patients receive the highest standard of care and best possible outcome. Be assured that when they refer a patient to another hospital, they continue to stay involved with his or her care, consulting with the treating specialist and often providing any needed follow-up care and rehabilitation.
